Since we started on Thanksgiving Day last year, Midwest Chai has just exploded! Much of this is due to the multitude of people who have been willing to take a chance on an old favorite done a new way. Folks: your love of tea, your adventurous spirit, and your plain old good taste is moving this small business to new heights.
I am proud of what we have made here. I am almost afraid to speak this into existence, but the fact is that I have not gotten one negative review of our Masala chai! The verdict is in: Midwest Chai is, without a doubt, a high quality Masala chai powder blend that stands up to all other Masala chais on the market. I know those are fighting words, but I stand by it. Our goal has always been simple: create an authentic, high quality chai experience. I am so proud to see that lived out and fulfilled every week as more and more people respond with kindness, satisfaction, and thanks.
As I have said in a past post, 'chai' is just the Hindi word for 'tea'. Therefore, 'chai' is really any kind of tea you make. 'Masala chai' is what people most often think of when they hear that word, and Masala is inherently, beautifully, Indian by nature of word and of the spices it contains. I love this; Masala chai clearly holds a very dear place in my heart and I really believe that our Masala has hit the sweet spot and is as good as it can be.
Now, I am working to expand on the 'chai' part and am exploring other spice blends like Masala that could make incredible chais. One thing I am discovering is that there are so many amazing flavor profiles from cultures around the world that work in tea form, that could connect tasters to an authentic cultural experience like Masala chai connects people with India. There is much work yet to do but I am loving the R+D phase right now, especially the experimentation part! Let me tell you, there are some UNIQUE flavor blends coming out of my workshop right now that are throwing my taste buds all different directions, challenging my perception of what a tea can be, and that are leaving me SO excited for what is to come.
It is hard to say right now when new chais will roll out as we are early in the process of exploration, but if you want to keep up to date with everything please like/follow @midwestchai on Facebook and Instagram.
